Pain in the neck

Sorry I've been gone (if you noticed.) Saturday was worse than Friday, the pain in my neck and shoulder continued all day. Little sleep and more pain Sunday. Work on Monday meant I had to wait until afternoon to finally see my chiropractor. He basically said I was all twisted up and after a few cracks and pops I could at least turn my head!

Feeling a bit better today, hoping to sleep well tonight. Honestly hoping I'll wake up and magically feel better. A girl can dream, right?

Anyway, the elliptical is out for now. Not what I had anticipated. 😕

And then there's this

Just when I thought I was ready to get this going, my body said "not today! "

Sore hip kept me from a morning workout. And then my neck decided that turning my head was an unnecessary motion, and seized on me. So tonight I get to test the theory of hot and cold pain therapy. Yay.

A day late, a dollar short

Okay, so I'm not a dollar short. Yesterday, what can I say? I couldn't find the motivation to get on the elliptical or to come up with an excuse. I was thinking all was lost and I'd failed at my experiment.

But then today came. And I was all set for failure. Had my alarm set for 7 so there was no chance to work out before heading to the office. And I tried HARD to fail. I kept waking up, looking at the alarm. 5, then 5:30. 6... and I kept rolling over TRYING to fall back asleep. I finally gave up at 6:30 and decided that I was just meant to get up.

Ended up with 20 minutes at level 2 with hills. ☺

Not bad for day 11!

Day 8, January 5

And we're back. Mind you, this was not a spectacular return by any means. I'd love to tell you that I awoke, jumped out of bed and completed 2-3 miles on my elliptical using the sheer energy that I gained from a weekend off.

Let's get real. That only happens in books and movies. I barely dragged my butt out of bed, after hitting snooze once. I debated the merits of staying in bed, or getting up and having coffee while I knit. When I finally DID get up, I still wasn't 100% sure I was getting on the damned machine. But I did. And you know what? It felt great!

No... it didn't. But it didn't kill me, either. Today was a weak day, with only 15 minutes on manual (read: flat, no hills.) And I barely made it through that. And now I can at least enjoy the rest of my day knowing that it's done.

And more excuses!

Yes, I was in a car for more than 5 hours today. And yes, it was late evening when I got home. Are these good excuses for not hopping on my lovely machine before bed? Probably - although I am still feeling guilty about it. But now it's time for bed, and I can't change a thing. So I'll set my alarm for the morning and get back to it! :-)

Excuses

Long day! Left the house around 6 am and had a nice drive to Wisconsin to see family I haven't seen in years! Clearly this is an excuse day, as there's NO WAY I was getting up early to exercise before a road trip. What kind of sadist does that?! I know the answer to that, and it probably includes the word "motivated," I just choose to ignore that. Maybe tomorrow... ;)
